About

Welcome to Morningstar Montessori where we blend a traditional Montessori curriculum with a rich, hands-on learning experience in a natural farm setting. Our unique environment includes goats, chickens, and reptiles, fostering curiosity in children from ages 2.5 to first grade entry. With a certified Montessori educator and iconic Montessori materials, we nurture cognitive and social-emotional growth through sensory play, STEM/STEAM, art and movement activities. With over 30 years of experience, we provide well-rounded, child-centered education.

About Our Director

Gigi Casey brings a wealth of experience in early childhood education to her role as the owner and director of our preschool. With a passion for fostering emotional and intellectual growth in young learners, she previously owned and directed Early Bird Preschool in San Mateo, a school known for its innovative use of Jean Watson's Caring Science Theory to create a compassionate, supportive learning environment.

Gigi also co-owned the first MUSE Global School concept franchise, which emphasizes sustainability and student-led learning, providing her with a unique blend of traditional and modern educational approaches. Under her leadership at Early Bird Preschool, the school was recognized for its community-oriented approach, incorporating plant-based nutrition and compassionate behavior management techniques.

Gigi holds a BA in Human Development and Family Studies from American Public University. With a background deeply rooted in early education and a drive to implement forward-thinking methodologies, Gigi ensures that every child at her preschool feels valued and inspired to learn. Her leadership reflects a commitment to both the Montessori tradition and contemporary, play-based learning, allowing her to create an environment where children can thrive emotionally, socially, and academically.

Values

Child-focused: All activities, play/workspaces and materials are developmentally appropriate and support active learning for children. Our low teacher-to-child ratio supports personalized learning and development outcomes for our children.

Whole-Child Development: We foster all aspects of children’s growth and development including problem-solving skills, empathy and respect, independence, language, social development, self-esteem and confidence.

Transparency: We strive to have open, respectful and transparent communication between all members of the school community. Open communication is vital to creating a community where children can thrive. We consider ourselves part of your child’s village, and we are here to support you.

Community: The school has been a member of the community since 2005 and have formed deep bonds with all the families served throughout the years. We will occasionally hold parent information meetings and will host special events throughout the year to keep you engaged and informed. Our events can be informative, seasonal, celebratory, community building and fun! As a family run business and the 3rd owners of Morningstar Montessori and coming from 34 years’ experience owning and operating our own preschool in the Bay Area, we want to extend that family feeling to all of you. Smaller teacher to student ratios allows the children to benefit from more one on one attention to form those special connections while they are here with us as a second family for most of their day.
